I call it my own country
but I feel ashamed
so much of stress
so much of pain
people pleading for food
no income, no gain
tumultuous and torturous
policies are unfair game
only home I thought it ought
where young grow not to bow
but to feel safe and cherish with pride
in their country without any doubt

every single cell one cares not
only the grown body on display
wearing shiny armor as defense
the hues and cries die in ashtray

*When I hear stories from rickshaw pullers or road side tea sellers. I can feel their pain. Leaders when will the condition of this country be better?

  2. Kritika, these are powerful words indeed and your compassion heart shines through. Every country and culture has its injustices, but it takes observant people to rise above social norms and point them out. Bravo Warrior, bravo.

    1. It feels amazing to connect but the heart goes out to them. They are the real warriors in the world full of miseries and pain which they have to live through.

  3. A very powerful, heartfelt poem! Sometimes we need to speak out about sad situations we see. I admire you for doing so. ❀ This is an era of suffering worldwide. Those who turn a blind eye to starving children, people dying, losing jobs and homes… or seek to exploit the situation for personal gain are reprehensible!

On a lighter note, how is your little green friend doing? Hope you are both doing well. ❀

    1. There are a few people who even care to listen to people who want to be heard. Hope many rise and raise voice.

Hope and Me are doing good. We would be returning to my home town soon. πŸ™‚

  4. The condition of India is because there is no accountability of politicians in India. Even if they don’t do anything in 5 years, no one can remove them. Nothing will change in India unless and until people have the ‘Right to reject’ & ‘Right to recall’ elected leaders.

    1. Hmm a grave concern is where does humanity stands? The tree will hardly bear fruits with such seeds.
We have ‘Freedom of Speech’ still are unable to. Though a platform internet provides but result? Oh I feel bad when I start imagining the state of the people I have met in my journey.
Right you are. We the people can do a lot if united.
I am so sorry for late reply. I guess I was not having one then.
Thank you so much for your input. πŸ™‚
